A vapor deposition material comprising a mixture of specified fluorinated-alkyl-containing organosilicon compound, specified silane compound and specified modified silicone oil; a process for producing an optical member, comprising the step of heating the vapor deposition material into a solid and the step of heating the resultant solid vapor deposition material by heating means so as to carry out vapor deposition on a plastic base material, thereby forming a water repellent thin film; a process for producing a plastic lens for spectacle as the optical member; and a plastic lens for spectacle produced by the process. In particular, there is provided a process for producing an optical member with a thin film enhanced in slide property and enhanced in durability and abrasion resistance performances as compared with those of conventional water-repellent films, and provided a relevant process for producing a plastic lens for spectacle. Further, there is provided a plastic lens for spectacle produced by the process, and provided a vapor deposition material for use therein.
