PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device of an electric power steering device capable of identifying and determining whether a motor current detector is out of order or a motor relay is out of order at an initial diagnosis at the time of starting an engine. SOLUTION: An A-phase motor relay of a three-phase motor is excited, and switching elements FET1-FET6 of a motor drive circuit are forcedly driven at a specific duty ratio for the initial diagnosis (P1-P3). It is determined whether an A-phase motor current i1 exceeds a threshold a, and when it exceeds the threshold a, it is determined whether a total motor current ip exceeds a threshold p or not (P4, P5). When the total motor current ip exceeds the threshold p, it is decided that the A-phase motor relay, an A-phase motor current detector, and a total motor current detector are normal. Similarly, it can be identified and determined whether the motor current detector is out of order or the motor relay is out of order according to whether the A-phase motor current i1 and the total motor current ip exceed a predetermined threshold.
