PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell capable of uniformly pressing the whole surface of a membrane electrode assembly against a fuel housing part with a cover member, and enhancing the reliability and power generation characteristics. SOLUTION: The fuel cell has the membrane electrode assembly interposing an electrolyte membrane between a fuel electrode and an air electrode, with the fuel housing part arranged on the fuel electrode side of the membrane electrode assembly, and the cover member covering the membrane electrode assembly; a laminate comprising two or more metallic materials, having different coefficients of thermal expansion, is jointed to at least one main surface of a cover body arranged on the air electrode side of the membrane electrode assembly out of the cover members; and the laminate is arranged so that the metallic material, having large coefficient of thermal expansion, is positioned on the membrane electrode assembly side.
