PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating method capable of applying a physiologically active substance with high accuracy, in a stable shape that has less dispersions in coating uniformity and coating shape. SOLUTION: This coating member 1 for coating a substrate 4 with a solution is equipped with a projection part, having a capillary tube flow channel 9 therein and a support part 14, having the first reference surface 8 formed at the leading end of the projection part 15 facing the substrate 4, which forms the meniscus of the solution from the capillary tube flow channel 9 in the projection part 15 and a second reference surface 6, which surrounds the projection part 15 and is further protruded in the direction of the substrate 4 from the first reference surface 8 to come into contact with the substrate 4. The support part 14 comes into contact with the substrate 4 to form a closed space in the periphery of the projection part 15, along with the substrate 4 and has an air hole 16 that communicates with the closed space for producing capillary force in the capillary tube flow channel 9.
