<p>The invention relates to a polymer compound for producing gaskets for container closures, which in the closed state have a barrier effect preventing the ingress of gaseous or vapour-like substances such as oxygen and aromatic compounds, especially benzenes, phenyl ether and the like, into the container and/or have an overpressure valve effect at container internal pressures between about 3 and 10 bar and can be produced by mechanical shaping of the unformed, thermally plasticated polymer compound and subsequently allowing it to harden to form the finished, elastic gasket directly on or in the container closure ("in-shell moulding"). The polymer compound consists of a mixture of butyl rubber and a polymer of an alpha -olefinic unsaturated monomer and, if desired, one or more other polymer components and conventional additives such as lubricants, pigment, talcum and stabilisers. In addition, the invention relates to a gasket of this type and a container closure of this type.</p> |
