In producing animal feed with core (partly) covered by shell, starting materials include (parts weight, pw) core 20-100 pw meat and/or similar and 1-20 pw humectant; shell 20-90 pw vegetable/animal protein and 10-80 pw cereal derivative and/or sugar (derivative). Production involves mixing core starting materials and either baking, conditioning, cutting into small pieces and conditioning or mixing, cold forming and cutting into small pieces, mixing core particles with shell components in dusting coating plant, baking or frying and conditioning, so that water activity of core is 1.4-1.6. In the production of animal feed with a core (partly) covered by a shell, the starting materials for the core are (in parts weight, pw) 20-100 pw meat and/or meat-like components, 0-30 pw added water, 0-25 pw oil and/or fat, 0-15 pw vitamins, minerals, salts, antioxidant, colorant and/or preservative, 0-15 pw vegetable fibers, 1-20 pw humectant and 0-8 pw dried animal blood plasma and for the shell 20-90 pw vegetable and/or animal protein, 0-30 pw cereal, starch and/or dextrin, 0-50 pw blood plasma, 0-30 pw water, 10-80 pw cereal derivative and/or sugar (derivative) and 0-10 pw vitamins, minerals, salts, antioxidant, colorant and/or preservative. Production involves making the core particles by (a) mixing the starting materials and either (a1) baking, conditioning, cutting into small pieces and conditioning again or (a2) mixing, cold forming and cutting into small pieces, then (b) mixing the core particles with the shell components in dusting coating plant, baking or frying and finally conditioning, so that the water activity (a wvalue) of the core is 1.4-1.6. |
