A method of controlling up-shift prevention is provided to protect a differential gearing device of an automatic transmission by generating a command of preventing upshift when the relative speed of left and right wheels is higher. A TCU(Transmission Control Unit) determines whether an up-shift prevention generating condition is satisfied by using information detected from a traveling vehicle(S302). If so, it is determined whether an automatic transmission is in a shift state or a shift stage is stationary(S304). If the shift stage is stationary, a command of creating a up-shift prevention command is generated to prevent upshift of the automatic transmission(S306). If not in the step S302, it is determined whether the TCU is under up-shift releasing conditions(S312). If it corresponds to the up-shift prevention releasing condition, the prevention releasing condition is maintained during a preset period(S314). In the case of the step S314, a command of releasing the up-shift prevention is generated(S316).
