A method for configuring customized menus in a mobile terminal is provided to enable a user to easily access frequently used menus by displaying menu items in the order of frequency in use of supplemental service menus. If the user of a mobile terminal selects a specific menu, the mobile terminal displays a main menu item list for supplemental service menus, a submenu item list for a specific main menu, and detailed menu items for a specific submenu item in sequence(S1). If it is required to apply initial hiding menus, the mobile terminal menu displays menus and detailed menu items except the initial hiding menus(S2,S3). If the user sequentially selects a specific main menu, a submenu item, and a detailed menu item(S4). the mobile terminal calculates how frequently each menu item has been selected and used(S5). Then the mobile terminal compares the frequency ratio of each menu item with a lower limit value(S6). If the frequency ratio of an arbitrary menu item is lower than the lower limit value, the mobile terminal sets an automatic hiding function for the arbitrary menu item so as not to be displayed on the screen(S7,S8). In case that the frequency ratio of an arbitrary menu item is higher than an upper limit value, the mobile terminal sets a shortcut function for the arbitrary menu item so that the arbitrary menu item can be directly executed at its main menu(S9,S10).
