<p>A CMC(Ceramic Matrix Composite) vane insulator and a method of using the same are provided to use less purge air and reduce stresses of a CMC vane during operation of a turbine. A vane assembly for a turbine rotor assembly, includes a vane support unit, an insulator having a base and a protrusion, and a vane. The base includes an upper surface and a lower surface. The protrusion is extended from the base, and includes at least one channel arranged on the protrusion such that the channel substantially surrounds an outer surface of the protrusion. The insulator is joined to the vane support unit, and the protrusion is interposed between the vane and a nozzle support strut(68), to thereby allow high temperature gas to flow easily from pressure sides of the protrusion to suction sides of the protrusion.</p> |
