A secondary battery is provided to improve safety and lifespan by preventing an internal short and inhibiting the reduction in battery capacity, and effectively emit heat generated during charge and discharge or operation thereof. A secondary battery(100) has an electrode assembly(jelly roll) within a battery case, wherein the electrode assembly(110) is manufactured by winding a positive electrode/a separator/a negative electrode into a roll. The secondary battery has a spiral structure in horizontal section and is obtained by inserting a center pin(200) made of an insulating material into a core of the jelly roll. The center pin is formed of synthetic resin, synthetic rubber, or a composite thereof. |
