A signage base 1, for supporting a road sign, comprises a hub 2 and hub dependent legs 4. In a deployed condition, the legs 4 support the hub 2 in an upright position. At least one of the legs has a distal skid 5 that facilitates sliding into a tipped over condition, where some of the legs 4 are no longer deployed such that the base 1 does not project upwards from the ground to a height of more than 150mm.
