PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new fluorene skeleton-having polyester resin excellent in heat resistance, transparency, and the like. SOLUTION: This method for producing the fluorene skeleton-having polyester resin is characterized by polycondensing a diol component (A) comprising at least a fluorene skeleton-having diol component (A1) [for example, 9,9-bis(hydroxyphenyl)fluorene, 9,9-bis(hydroxyl(poly) 2 to 4C alkoxyphenyl)fluorene, or 9,9-bis(alkyl-hydroxy(poly) 2 to 4C alkoxyphenyl)fluorene] with a dicarboxylic acid component (B) comprising at least a fluorene skeleton-having dicarboxylic acid component (B1) [for example, 9,9-bis(carboxy-1 to 4C alkyl)fluorene which may have a substituent on the alkyl group, a dicarboxyfluorene which may have a substituent at the 9-position of the fluorene, or their derivatives (such as a dicarboxylic halide)].
