<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus in which vibration from an image reading section is hardly transmitted to an image forming section and which can be made compact. <P>SOLUTION: A support body 60 has a pair of support posts 62A and 62B, an upper connecting plate 64, a lower connecting plate 66, and a bottom plate 68. The support posts 62A and 62B vertically erected on the rear face side of a frame 30, with a space corresponding to the width of the frame 30 between them. The image reading section 14 is placed on the support posts 62A and 62B. The image reading section is supported on a floor face G by the support posts 62A and 62B.
