PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seal material composition to be used for precoating a screw portion combining improved constructing efficiency and sealing performance, particularly, initial sealing performance, and to provide a precoat type seal material formed by precoating the screw portion. SOLUTION: The seal material composition to be used for precoating the screw portion comprises (A) reactive liquid resin having cross-linkable reactive groups in molecules and adapted to be cross-linked to form gel hardened material, (B) catalyst and/or hardening agent for cross-linking the (A) component, and (C) water absorbing and swelling component. The precoat type seal material is formed by precoating the screw portion with the seal material composition comprising (A)-(C).
