PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a spread spectrum communication device enabling the handover between different frequencies easily.

SOLUTION: The spread spectrum communication device comprises: a radio frequency receiver 25 for receiving a frame compressed in a compression mode intermittently; a timing/despreader 51 for detecting first and second search codes for non-transmission time during a compression mode period; a detection determining unit 52 for determining the search codes with a predetermined criterion; and a controller 21E for establishing synchronization with other frequency carriers based on the first and second search codes detected by the detection determining unit 52 to control the handover between different frequencies.
