PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately calculate ignition timing of MBT in an engine transient state. SOLUTION: In an ignition timing control device for an internal combustion engine of the present invention, a combustion gas amount burning in a cylinder until a predetermined crank angle, laminar flow combustion rates SL1, SL2 that are combustion rates of combustion gas in a laminar flow state, and turbulence strength U1, U2 that are indices of turbulence in combustion changed depending on the engine transient state, are calculated. Combustion rates FLAME1, FLAME2 in the cylinder are calculated from the laminar flow combustion rates and the turbulence strength, burning periods BURN1, BURN2 are calculated from the combustion rates and the combustion gas amount in the cylinder, and reference ignition timing MBTCAL for calculating the MBT is calculated based on the burning periods.
