<p>In a papermaking process a wet web passes around a heated drum for which the heat is generated at least partially within the drum (10) by catalytic combustion of fuel in air. - The drum is operated as a catalytic burner with an internal coating of a catalytic agent (12) around an inner void. The fuel is a gas. The ratio of fuel to air is regulated. Also claimed is a commensurate drum in which the hot gas is distributed through radial passages to peripheral holes in the drum mantle where they trigger an exothermic reaction.</p> |
