A device for the presentation and preservation of food comprises a base 1 central column 3 detachably attached to the base 1, and divider plates 2 that are detachably attached to the central column 3 and the base 1, the base, column and dividers are covered by a domed cover (10, fig 3). During use, the base plate supports a cake for example, once the cake is cut, the column 3 is detachably attached to the base 1 and divider plates 2 are detachably attached to the central column and the base unit, and the divider plates are positioned to cover the cut edges of the cake. As the cake is cut, and slices removed, the divider plate(s) may be moved to ensure the cut edge of the cake is covered to ensure freshness. Alternatively numerous dividers may be used allow a mixture of cake or other food product slices to be displayed and preserved. Preferably the base plate is made from a polycarbonate or similar material and the cover from clear acrylic. |
