A system for testing a negative pressure wound dressing houses a simulated wound cavity W of realistic shape and dimensions, a wound dressing locatable over the simulated wound, a negative pressure source 226 in fluid communication with the wound cavity and at least one sensor 205 adapted to record at least one parameter within the simulated wound. A valve 216 in fluid communication with the wound cavity can be opened to simulate an air leak within the wound cavity. Fluids may be delivered to the wound cavity to simulate exudates, the fluids coming from a bath 236 pressurised by a peristaltic pump 212. A computer 100 may be coupled to the sensor(s) for recording and analysing data, thereby providing an indication of functioning of the system. Levels of oxygen, light, humidity, temperature, negative pressure and bacteria may all be sensed and recorded. |
