A method and an apparatus for automatically managing a computer system are provided to optimize programs and the state of the computer system all the time and automatically cope with an error generated in the computer system. A system for automatically managing a computer system(100) includes a service providing server(200). The service providing server downloads an automatic management program through the Internet to the computer system or delivers an automatic management CD(Compact Disk) including the automatic management program at the request of a subscriber and provides a window program according to the specification of the computer system. The computer system installs the automatic management program, operates the automatic management program to partition a hard disk into at least one storage region, downloads the window program, stores the window program in a first storage region and installs the window program in a second storage region.
