In an elevator device, travel of a car is stopped by a brake device. The brake device has an electric power shutoff section for shutting off electric power supply to a brake coil according to a brake activation command and also has an electric current regulation section for supplying electric power, according to a deceleration reduction command from a brake control section, to the brake coil while regulating the amount of the current. The electric current regulation section can supply electric power to the brake coil even if the supply of electric power to the brake coil is being shut off by the electric power shutoff section. ® KIPO & WIPO 2008
