An electrical connection system is provided to dispose tips of male blade terminals and/or tips of mating female terminals at different locations in staggered arrangement, thereby dissipating required engagement force over a wider range of motion and reducing the peak engagement force required to mate the male and female connectors. A female connector(11) has plural female terminals(14a,14b), and a male connector(15) has plural male blade terminals(18a,18b). The male blade terminals have projecting portions that respectively plug into the plural female terminals when the female connector and the male connector are moved toward each other in an engagement direction to be mated. One of the plural female terminals and the plural male blade terminals have a first terminal group having first tips at a first relative position and a second terminal group having second tips at a second relative position different from the first relative position. The first tips and the second tips are not simultaneously contacted with another of the plural female terminals and the plural male blade terminals. Therefore, a peak engagement force required for mating the female connector and the male connector is reduced.
