A backlight assembly and a display device having the same are provided to improve the uniformity and intensity of brightness by diffusing light, emitted from light sources, through a diffusion member having diffusion protrusions. A backlight assembly(400) comprises a light source unit(110), a container(200) and a diffusion member(300). The light source unit, composed of a plurality of light sources(111) and a driving substrate(112), emits light. The container accepts the light source unit and the diffusion member. The diffusion member consists of a diffusion plate(310) and diffusion protrusions(320). The diffusion plate, formed above the light source unit, diffuses light. The diffusion protrusions, protruded from the diffusion plate downwards, are arranged between the light sources so as to divide the light sources. A cross section of each diffusion protrusion is an equilateral triangle, and the lower part of the each diffusion protrusion has a curved surface. |
