<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical film having optical characteristics capable of responding to requirements to be thin, wide and of high qualities for a polarization plate protective film, in particular, excellent in flatness. <P>SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing an optical film comprises flow-casting a doped composition containing a cellulose ester resin, an additive having an inorganic/organic ratio (I/O) of 0.9 to 1.3 and a molecular weight of 500 or more, and a solvent over a support, releasing a flow-cast film (web) and then drying. The above solvent preferably contains solvents by 80 % by weight or more having an inorganic/organic ratio (I/O) of 0.05 to 0.3. By using the obtained optical film, characteristics of a coating layer are more effectively developed and high visibility (easy viewing property of a screen) is obtained when the film is used for a liquid crystal display device (display). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
