PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a map display apparatus for displaying information according to the presence or absence of knowledge on locality. SOLUTION: Information on location names to be displayed on map information corresponding to a current location is acquired on the basis of results of determination as to whether a user has knowledge of locality or not. When the map information corresponding to the current location is acquired, the map information acquired on the basis of the results of determination is superposed and displayed on the acquired map information.
