PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To segment an image as intended by a photographer.

SOLUTION: An aspect ratio of a pasting area 542 which is set for image segmentation is "1:2". An aspect ratio of a source image 543 from which the image is segmented is "16:9". Thus, an image within an area 542' including the source image 543 at the maximum is segmented while keeping the aspect ratio of the pasting area 542 when each aspect ratio of the pasting area 542 and the source image 543 is different. The present invention can be applied to a device for producing an electronic photo album.
