PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure operation while being built sturdily, in a boom fall preventing device applied to a cargo vehicle such as a skid steering loader to prevent a boom of a cargo handling device from falling accidentally. SOLUTION: The boom fall preventing device is composed of the boom 2, a boom cylinder 3, a stopper body 4, a spring 5, a resilience switching means 6 and a storing and holding means 7. The boom fall preventing device is provided with a stopper body 4 particularly provided in a freely falling manner at the boom 2 and capable of taking a lock state of maintaining the extended state of the boom cylinder 3 and an unlock state of allowing the extension/contract of the boom cylinder 3; the spring 5 provided at the boom 2 to move the stopper body 4 from the lock state into the unlock state; the resilience switching means 6 switching into an effective state of applying the resilience of the spring 5 to the stopper 4, and an ineffective state of not applying the resilience of the spring 5 to the stopper body 4; and the storing and holding means 7 capable of holding the stopper body 4 in the unlock state to the boom 2.
