PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyethylene terephthalate resin imparting a molded product of polyethylene terephthalate with a remarkably reduced content of formaldehyde. SOLUTION: The invention relates to the polyethylene terephthalate resin having less than 2 ppm of formaldehyde content in a molded article having 28 mm of major diameter, 19 mm of inside diameter, 136 mm of length, 56 g of weight and having a hollow part with the closed end of a test tube shape, injection molded at 300°C.
