A backlight unit and an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) having the same are provided to improve optical characteristics, such as luminance, and implement a high-definition screen by installing the first lamp for high color reproduction and the second lamp for luminance compensation. A backlight unit(1) comprises an optical member(30), the first lamp(10), and the second lamp(20). The first lamp, adjacent to the lateral of the optical member, emits a light of high color reproduction. The second lamp, diagonally arranged at the rear of the first lamp, is provided to compensate for luminance. The first lamp emits visible rays. The second lamp has a light-emitting spectrum which can compensate for luminance, and emits green light. The first and second lamps respectively have power supply parts which can be individually driven. |
