<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To quickly conduct the rotational control of a motor which is related to a laser beam printer which forms an image through scanning on a photosensitive body, by using a laser beam which is modulated with an image signal, particularly, in terms of a motor control device and a motor control method for controlling a rotating polygon mirror that deflects the laser beam, and which is also related to an electronic photographic image forming device. <P>SOLUTION: The present rotation state is detected (S102), and predicted phase difference S of a target phase, when the rotation in the present rotation state is varied into a rotation in a target rotation state is calculated (S120). When a value of the calculation is not smaller than a fixed value, the speed of the present motor is varied by the fixed value a (S107). Here, when target speed is acceleration, the speed is varied in the decelerating direction; and when the speed is deceleration, the speed is varied toward the accelerating direction.
