PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus for forming an always stabilized dot pattern upon forming digital paper for digital pen.

SOLUTION: The present invention relates to an image forming apparatus for printing digital paper for exclusive use for digital pen. The image forming apparatus includes an image forming part for forming a first dot pattern on a recording material using first dot pattern data. The image forming apparatus includes an acquiring part for acquiring as second dot pattern data a formation position of the first dot pattern formed on a recording material read by an external reading apparatus. Further, the image forming apparatus includes a determination part for comparing the first dot pattern data and the second dot pattern data to determine a shift amount of the formation positions. Moreover, the image forming apparatus includes a generation part for generating third dot pattern data using the first dot pattern data and the shift amount to form a dot pattern canceled in shift amounts in the image forming part.
