PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image formation device shortening the time until starting an image formation by shortening the time required for an dummy discharge movement prior to starting the image formation. SOLUTION: At starting a printing, an ink consumption is counted for every each nozzle train of a recording head 34. For the nozzle train whose ink consumption is less than a predetermined setting value at finishing the printing, the nozzle train is capped with a cap member 82 after executing the dummy discharge movement for discharging liquid droplets which do not contribute to the image formation from the nozzles of the nozzle train concerned.
