PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To describe a method for verifying validity of an electronic certificate during a certain electronic process when a plurality of electronic processes each using an electronic certificate are performed without initiating an apparatus for acquiring a second CRL. SOLUTION: For each electronic process, a latest CRL during the electronic process is acquired and held, and a state management table records information about a time of the electronic process and the held CRL. When verifying validity of an electronic certificate at an electronic process time A at a following time (at a verification time), the state management table is referred to retrieve electronic processes performed from the electronic process time A to the verification time. On the assumption that the verification time is subsequent to T3, information about a CRL acquired at an electronic process time B is recorded in the state management table, so that the validity of the electronic certificate in the electronic process A can be verified using a CRL-b acquired in the electronic process B.
