An ambient light sensing circuit and a flat panel display having the same are provided to make the flat panel display thinner by forming all of an ambient light sensing circuit, an ambient light control processing unit, a timing control unit, a data driving unit, and an organic light emitting panel on a single substrate. An ambient light sensing circuit(100) includes a transistor(T1), a first capacitive element(C1), a second capacitive element(C2), a light receiving element(PD), a first switch(S1), and a second switch(S2). The first capacitive element is electrically connected to the transistor and compensates threshold voltage of the transistor. The second capacitive element is electrically connected to the first capacitive element. The light receiving unit is electrically connected to the first and second capacitive elements to change coupling voltage of the first and second capacitive elements when receiving ambient light. The first switch supplies voltage of a first power supply to an output resistor(110). The second switch is electrically connected between the transistor and the output resistor to discharge voltage of the output resistor through the transistor in correspondence to the coupling voltage of the first and second capacitive elements.
