<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate gradation correcting data capable of suppressing trouble such as gradation jump. <P>SOLUTION: An HL comparison image HC, a MID comparison image MC, and an SH comparison image SC having a plurality of patch images respectively different in density are formed by using a printer in a reference chart where an HL reference image HG, a MID reference image MG, and an SH reference image SG are formed. A user compares the HL reference image HG with the HL comparison image HC, for example, and determines the image closest to the HL reference image HG (an HL reference value (e.g., ±0)) concerning the HL comparison image HC in a range for obtaining substantially the same density of the HL reference image HG (an HL permission lower limit value (e.g., -3), an HL permission upper limit value (e.g., +1)). The same processing is performed for a MID area and an SH area. The featured value in each area is calculated based on the permission upper limit value, the permission lower limit value, and the reference value, so as to generate an LUT for correcting a reference TRC LUT, based on each featured value. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
