<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To miniaturize an image forming apparatus, and to accurately maintain the positions of a sheet and an image. <P>SOLUTION: A position detection sensor 34 is arranged so as to detect a toner image, formed on an intermediate transfer belt 40 and the leading end of the sheet. The position of a position indication pattern on the transfer belt and that of the paper are detected by the same sensor, and the positional discrepancy between the sheet and the image is corrected, based on the detection thereby. Since the two positions are detected by the same sensor, there is no possibility that position correcting accuracy is lowered because relative positional relation between the sensors is changed, and the entire apparatus is miniaturized. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
