PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a versatile box packing apparatus capable of pushing a plurality of articles into two exterior boxes at one time, and preventing any restriction attributable to the shape or the rigidity of the articles. SOLUTION: The box packing apparatus has a floor opening/closing device 13 for opening/closing a floor plate 13A, a holding and pressing device 8 for holding and pressing an article row composed of articles aligned on the floor plate 13A between a pair of holding and pressing plates 8D in the row direction, a pushing-in device 14 for pushing a top face of the held article row downward while the floor plate 13A is withdrawn by a pushing-in plate 14F, allowing the article row to escape downward between the holding and pressing plates 8D, and pushing the article row into exterior boxes C. A flat partitioning plate 15 parallel to the holding and pressing plates 8D is provided between the pair of holding and pressing plates 8D, and the article row is held and pressed on both sides of the partitioning plate 15.
