<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a procedure for improving the determination accuracy of face authentication processing to be generated by changes in face directions, changes of expressions, illumination conditions, or combinations of these conditions. <P>SOLUTION: A face image authentication apparatus 10 is provided with: a registered face image acquisition part 13 for acquiring a registered face image photographed under a photographing condition including an element of a prescribed direction; an authentication face image acquisition part 14 for acquiring a plurality of authentication face images of a target person newly photographed under photographing conditions including elements of a plurality of directions; a similarity degree data calculation part 16 for collating respective similarity degrees of the plurality of authentication face images with the acquired registered face image and relating respective similarity degrees with the elements of the directions; and an authentication part 17 for determining whether the related information data belong to a same-person similarity group or a different person similarity group, by comparing these information data with group discrimination data, and determining whether the plurality of authentication face images and the registered face image are obtained by photographing the same person or not to identify the authentication face images with the registered face image. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
