PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a discharge inspection device and a discharge inspection method making it possible to correctly determine presence or absence of discharge of ink droplets by properly amplifying voltage change generated along with the discharge of the ink droplets. SOLUTION: Output signals amplified by an amplifying circuit 69 amplifies the voltage change generated along with the discharge of a recording liquid by inputting the output signals to the amplifying circuit 69 only when the recording liquid is discharged at least for discharge inspection The voltage change of a recording head 30 is not transmitted to the amplifying circuit 69 as the output signals when the recording head 30 is not driven for discharging for the discharge inspection. Accordingly, the movement of the amplifying circuit 69 can be always in a stable movement condition, the presence or absence of the discharge can be correctly determined using the amplified output signals because the output signals are not transmitted to the amplifying circuit 69 even though large voltage change is generated in the voltage Ve of the recording head 30.
