TRAVELING CONTROLLER FOR VEHICLE

摘要

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a traveling controller for a vehicle for allowing a driver to follow a preceding vehicle without having a feeling of discomfort in setting a target speed in a state of following the preceding vehicle.

SOLUTION: The controller comprises a speed detection means 2 for detecting a traveling speed of its own vehicle; a target speed setting unit 11 for setting the traveling speed of the own vehicle at the time of setting the target speed as the target speed; a constant speed travelling control unit 12 for controlling the travelling speed of the own vehicle; a preceding vehicle detection means 3 for detecting the preceding vehicle of the own vehicle; and a following travelling control unit 13 for controlling the traveling speed of the own vehicle so as to follow the preceding vehicle while keeping a predetermined inter-vehicle distance to the preceding vehicle. When the detection means 3 detects the preceding vehicle in setting the target speed, the setting unit 11 sets a travelling speed in which a predetermined speed is added to the traveling speed of the own vehicle at the time of setting the target speed as the target speed.
