<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a robot which detects whether a customer visiting a store or the like is an adult, a child, or an infant according to the height of the body or the face, and detects a degree of congestion, selects the suitable information for the customer from the table based on them to display, utters a sound, communicates with gestures, and moves to efficiently perform the explanation or the guide in the robot for providing information to the customer visiting the store or the like and a method for providing the information using the robot. <P>SOLUTION: The robot for providing information is equipped with a means for detecting the height of the customer visiting the store or the like, a means for determining either one of the modes of a plurality of modes corresponding to the adult, the child, or the infant based on the height of the customer to be detected, a table for previously registering the introduction content, the utterance, the gestures, and movement of the robot in association with the mode, a means for reading out the information regarding the introduction content, the utterance, the gestures, and movement of the robot referring to the table based on the determined mode, and a means for allowing the robot to execute based on the read-out information. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
