<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manage a device by granting setting file including identifier to the device, without requiring a maintenance worker to visit the installation place of the printing device that is a monitoring object at a device monitoring system using the identifier that is identifiable logically. <P>SOLUTION: A serial number of a device is registered to a monitoring device of the device from a terminal via a network. The monitoring device generates installation ID corresponding to the serial number, and generates a monitoring setting file that includes the installation ID. The device acquires the monitoring setting file from the monitoring device by polling, and stores it.
