Method for providing a service in a communication network (1), and service node (10) arranged to execute that service. The service node (10) is arranged to receive and evaluate a request from the service, the request comprising an expression having multiple elements. Each element relates to data originating from one or more context sources (B, D, E), which can provide the data to the service node (10), e.g. using context source proxies (B', D', E'). Each context source (B, D, E) updates its associated data using a request based mechanism or an event trigger based mechanism. One of the plurality of elements is selected, and if the selected element evaluates to false, the selected element is switched to a trigger mode. If the selected element evaluates to true, then a further element is interrogated.
