PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a content recording apparatus and a content management method that can identify only unnecessary content as deletion candidate content without troubling a user. SOLUTION: Content lists are recorded in a content list recording part 522. A data management part 56 compares a new content list received from a transmission/reception part 43 with the content list of the same name recorded in the content list recording part 522 to identify content recorded in a content recording part 523 which has been deleted from the content list recorded in the content list recording part 522, as deletion target content, and overwrites or updates the content list of the same name recorded in the content list recording part 522 with the new content list received from the transmission/reception part 43.
