PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a method which can generate large electrostatic power even if a voltage is low, and can conduct the drive control of an electrostatic actuator or the like which can be adapted to a variety of discharge aspects by using the large electrostatic power. SOLUTION: The electrostatic actuator of a droplet discharge head or the like comprises an individual electrode 12 being a fixed electrode, and a diaphragm 22 supported so as to oppose the individual electrode 12 at a prescribed distance and being a movable electrode. The drive control method comprises a process for storing an electric charge at least at one of the electrode, by making the diaphragm 22 contact with the individual electrode 12; and a process for operating the diaphragm 22 by making the electrode which is stored with an electric charge generate the electrostatic power, and also generate a potential difference between the diaphragm 22 and the individual electrode 12, by feeding an electric charge having the same polarity as that of the electric charge stored in the electrode.
