PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate positioning setting work in sewing a flap. SOLUTION: This piping sewing machine includes a cloth moving mechanism 40 carrying a fabric by a large presser feet 41, a marking illumination device 70 applying a point mark light for indicating a positioning criterion position of the fabric on a working table, positioning members 35 and 38 for a flap cloth F on the a large presser feet 41, a flap detecting means 30 for detecting the end of the flap cloth on the a large presser feet, a sewing control means 62b sewing the flap cloth to the fabric, a reference position setting means 65 setting the positioning reference position of the fabric as distances (b) and (b') to the end position of the flap cloth, an abutment part position setting means 65 inputting distances (a) and (a') indicating the flap end positions determined by the positioning member of the a large presser feet situated in a retaining start position, and an illumination control means 62b controlling to apply the point mark light at positions separated by the distances (b) and (b') from the flap end positions (a) and (a') of the retaining start positions.
