PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a program guide display apparatus which is capable of attaining improvement in user friendliness when displaying a program guide. SOLUTION: A program guide generating unit generates data for displaying on the display apparatus a lateral type program guide with broadcasting station names on a longitudinal axis and times on a lateral axis or data for displaying on the display apparatus a longitudinal type program guide with times on a longitudinal axis and broadcasting station names on a lateral axis. When a display switching command is received, the program guide generating unit discriminates whether or not a combination of the number of broadcasting station and a time duration displayed on one of the program guides is present within a table, between first and second tables, corresponding to the other program guide and if a discrimination means discriminates that such a combination is not present, a combination of the maximum broadcasting station number less than or equal with the number of broadcasting stations displayed on the one program guide and a maximum time duration less than or equal with the time duration displayed on the one program guide is selected from the table corresponding to the other program guide.
