PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a joint for friction stir welding, which makes dimensional management of a weld part easy and has excellent weld properties, and to provide a welded body composed of to-be-welded members, which are provided with the joints for friction stir welding. SOLUTION: The joints are formed on the to-be-welded members which are welded by friction stir welding. The welding is conducted as follows: each weld edge surface of to-be-welded members 10A, 10B is made to butt against each other; a fixed pin type tool 5 for friction stir welding is inserted into a weld part butted, from each side of the upper and lower faces of the weld part while rotating the tool 5; and the tool 5 is moved in the longitudinal direction of the weld part. Edge surface grooves 15, which are formed in the weld edge surfaces along the longitudinal direction of the weld part, form protrusions 11a, 11b, 12a, 12b on the upper and lower parts of the weld edge surface of the to-be-welded members. The protrusions are brought into contact with each other (11a with 11b, 12a with 12b) by making the weld edge surfaces butt against each other, so that a weld part that is vertically separated interposing a space of the grooves 15 is formed.
