PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric reel for fishing by improving spool free performance in time of clutch disengagement without damaging gear faces in a power transmission unit. SOLUTION: The electric reel for fishing comprises a drive motor 8 for rotatively driving a spool 7, a power transmission mechanism 15 equipped with planetary gears 22, 25 for transmitting the power of the drive motor 8 and an internal gear 28 meshed with the planetary gears 22, 25 and a clutch mechanism 80 for switching the spool in a power transmitting state and a power cut off state. The spool 7 is connected with the internal gear 28, while a connection member 30 having engaging units 30d engaging and disengaging with engaging dents 7d provided on the spool 7 is installed. By moving the connection member 30 interlocking with a switching operation of the clutch mechanism 80, the spool 7 can be switched in the power transmitting state and the power cut off state by engaging and disengaging the engaging units 30d with the engaging dents 7d while maintaining a meshed state of the planetary gears 22, 25 with the internal gear 28.
