PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a metal fine particle-dispersed liquid in which the particle diameter distribution of metal fine particles is narrow, and also, the production process is simple, and which is excellent also from the view point of environmental hygiene. SOLUTION: Into terpineol, 4-desyl aniline and H<SB>2</SB>PtCl<SB>6</SB>are dispersed, and the H<SB>2</SB>PtCl<SB>6</SB>is reduced, thus platinum nanofine particles are produced, and simultaneously, a platinum nanofine particle-dispersed liquid dispersed into the terpineol in a state of being protected by the 4-desyl aniline is obtained in a single step. At this time, the 4-desyl aniline not only covers the produced platinum nanofine particles and protects the same, but also has an action of reducing the H<SB>2</SB>PtCl<SB>6</SB>, thus the H<SB>2</SB>PtCl<SB>6</SB>is suitably reduced, and also, the produced platinum nanofine particles are swiftly protected. In this way, the fine platinum nanofine particles with a narrow particle diameter distribution are produced without causing flocculation or the like, and the dispersed liquid is obtained. Further, since the terpineol having a boiling point of≥100(°C) is hard to be volatilized in the production process of the dispersed liquid and during use, it is preferable also from the view point of the environmental hygiene.
